David Garvin
Mr. Garvin is a co-founder and current Chair of the Batterer Intervention Services Coalition of Michigan (BISC-MI). Mr. Garvin was selected to serve as the co-chair of the Michigan Governor’s Taskforce on creating standards for batterer intervention programs. Mr. Garvin has conducted trainings, consultations, conferences, workshops, in-services around the country and has been featured on local, state and national television, in magazines, professional journals and newspapers.

Mr. Garvin was named the 2009 National Association of Social Workers-Michigan (NASW-MI) Social Worker of the Year. He earned the prestigious honor for his work in the areas of domestic violence, mental health and adoption.

In 2011 David became an Adjunct Lecturer with The Eastern Michigan University, School of Social Work.

In the Spring of 2011 David began serving on the National Advisory Board to Futures Without Violence, formerly Family Violence Prevention Fund. An advisory board of experts in batterer intervention and domestic violence services will guide the project and help Futures Without Violence staff and consultants develop criteria for inclusion in the publication, select programs, conduct site visits, comment on program descriptions, raise important contextual and policy-related issues, identify readership, and support dissemination. The goal of this is to create a publication on promising and innovative practices in batterer intervention.
